BALANCED MODE RADIATOR

Balanced Mode Radiators (BMRs) are true full range drive units that deliver immersive audio from unique form factors. Through a carefully engineered combination of pistonic and modal vibration, BMR technology enables wide directivity output up to the highest audible frequencies from a single transducer, regardless of its size. This ensures a clear, natural listening experience with exceptional intelligibility for everyone in the room.

BMRs can be found in everything from soundbars, conferencing devices, luxury automobiles, VR headsets, ceiling speakers, and many other markets that value high quality audio and the unique form factors that BMR technology enables.

DML

DISTRIBUTED MODE LOUDSPEAKER

Distributed Mode Loudspeaker (DML) technology is the foundation on which our bending wave technologies evolved from and is based on research conducted at the UK Ministry of Defense. DMLs utilize bending waves excited into complex modal configurations to produce incredibly wide directivity from almost any size of diaphragm and produce a largely diffuse acoustic output.

DMLs can be found in home audio products, a wide range of architectural installations, and airports and transportation hubs across the world where their unparalleled directivity and diffuse character means that fewer speakers are required to provide equivalent and often much improved coverage.

SYMMETRIC DRIVE WOOFER

Symmetric Drive Woofer (SDW) technology enables compact transducers designed to maximize bass performance in space-constrained environments while minimizing any vibrations transmitted into surrounding structures. Conventional woofers are typically tall due to the need for large diaphragm movement and clearance for internal components, leading to increased device size. In contrast, SDW features a highly efficient and compact dual diaphragm structure which improves vibration cancellation. This innovative approach allows for greater diaphragm area within a smaller footprint, enhancing bass performance without requiring excessive movement or magnet material.

Paired with Tectonic’s BMR technology and a low crossover frequency, SDW technology unlocks unique design potential and system performance. Whether it is used in TVs, monitors, soundbars, or other size constrained applications, the bass performance will be a revelation to those who hear it.

INERTIALLY BALANCED EXCITER

Inertially Balanced Exciter (IBX) technology takes Tectonic’s expertise in electrodynamic exciter design to extreme levels of shock ruggedization. A steel armature configuration suspends the exciter body in the plane of its center of mass, making the exciter extremely resilient to high-G shocks.

IBX exciters are used in aerospace and automotive applications for their effectiveness and robustness in these challenging environments.

CURVED DIAPHRAGM BALANCED MODE

Curved Diaphragm Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR-k) technology provides all the wide directivity and smooth sound power response benefits of BMR technology but adds additional modal control through engineering the curvature profile of the diaphragm. The mode frequencies and mode bending structures are manipulated by the curved profile, leading to increased design flexibility whereby the benefits of BMR may be applied to more speaker shapes and sizes.

Expect the first products featuring this technology to hit the market in 2025.
